The Purple Cow (PDF) – The Moo The Merrier | TopKnot Stitcher Shop – PDF Download
A note from Abby TopKnot: I remember reading this nonsense poem by Gelett Burgess as a kid, giggling over the silly imagery of a purple cow. Many years later, I learned that Burgess once lived & worked in my very own town of Berkeley, CA. While on an internet rabbit trail learning about Burgess (he invented the word ‘blurb’!), I discovered this original illustration of the poem, first published in Burgess’ humorous magazine, The Lark, in 1895. It was a true joy to bring my own interpretation of this cow to life in cross stitch as part of The Moo the Merrier.
The Purple Cow is stitched on 20ct Colour and Cotton Havana aida (suggested sub: Cocoa by Fiber on a Whim) using 3 colors from the Sulky TMTM palette, as well as 2 supplemental purples (1235 and 1254).
